The Spirit of Online Community
Here are some links that may be helpful in thinking about and framing what it is that we'd like to grow here in the Open Space World wiki websites:
from the open space community
from Meatball Wiki
from other sites???
our thoughts/digests of any of the above?
- Just a though: How does the "Spirit of this online community" (of "OST practitionners") relates with the SpiritofOST ? If there are others interested in having a dialogue about the SpiritofOST and how it relates with the Wiki Spirit, please follow the link.

Can we create some orientation page(s) about the spirit, and not just the technicalities, of working in this kind of online space. What can we tell newcomers to this site about the spirit of OST, wiki, AND this particular wiki website?
- MeatBall:BarnRaising and other topics above could be distilled a bit into a useful orientation page.
- something about civility and
- doing no harm
- assuming best intentions...
- helpful sorts of roles here
-
- OST and wiki both seem to run explicitly on the law of two feet, with everyone who shows up encouraged to learn and contribute as much as they can. Other translations of OST into wiki space?
- Things we can tell conveners of OST followup working sessions who would use this space for
- How to create the thing technically
- How to hold the thing spaciously... or does this just go back to the above bit about spirit?

What is Wiki? Some possible, partial answers...
- Wiki is not an event. Events are bounded by time, wiki is an ongoing flow. Words posted today are intermingled and inserted and sprouted out of words posted weeks, months or years ago. Taken together, they reflect all we know about the topic now.
- Wiki is not a conversation, though some postings might be dialogic and signed. Words of different contributors are intermingled into something bigger than any one person's view, even if signed postings remain. Wiki pages are often "refactored" or edited down, cleaned up and digested into essential meanings. Refactoring is often done by people other than the original authors.
- Wiki is more like a "current draft" of an unfolding community document. Words posted to wiki are not our own. They are contributions to the community document and get shaped and reshaped by others as the collective story evolves. Everybody's words and ideas melt into one wiki story.
