This page is for listing bits of "the rules" that we figure out as we go here. Post apparent rules. Others can add or edit them. Post questions about rules. Others can replace the question with an statement that answers. Short, specific questions will make for short specific "rules."
- Signing in. There is no requirement to sign in and no password security system. You can click 'Preferences' and set a your name FirstLast? and other preferences. It's a friendly thing to do. The RecentChanges page shows names and links to those posting.
- Signing Posts depends on the mode of the page. Some pages are more conversational. If posts are signed there, sign using whole name rather than initials. Some pages are group-authored documents. Those posts are likely not signed. Authors may all sign at the bottom of that page.
- NamePages is a friendly and easy place to start posting. Then fill in a bit of info on your own named page. Then you can use your whole name FirstLast? to sign postings.
- Proofreading Anyone who sees some spelling, formatting, shaky english, links or whatever out of place can fix it. This is considered helpful. It's akin to picking up cups in an Open Space meeting. We call such people WikiGnomes. ThanksToWikiGnomes. Other WikiRoles.
- Point of View Posting in the 3rd person makes ReFactoring pages, distilling meaning, easier. Posting in 1st person encourages conversation. Conversation pages tend to have more mess and be harder to read. See also: ThreadMode and DocumentMode
- Hold your fire. Talking ABOUT other people gets darned tricky. Nobody likes to be talked about, especially in front of their backs! Better to assume that everyone is working with good intentions.
- Non-Attachment. Everything posted here becomes community property, not in a copyright sense but in an editright sense. Wiki is one big community-edited document. Be prepared to be summarized!
- What can I do here? This space was envisioned as a place to post real work, including...
- Proceedings from real OST conferences (posted after or during your meetings)
- Project plans following OST meetings (to continue the work in the spirit of OST)
- OST Resources Projects (stories collections, group-authored brochures, or other joint efforts)
- OSW websites project work (including Q&A for non-English wiki development support)
- others?
